View Full Version : Three post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Bologna

The Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (DEIS) at the
University of Bologna offers three post-doctoral fellowships for advanced R&D and co-operation
activity within the research project "DEPICT - a DEis Project for ICT assisted living".

DEPICT is a highly multi-disciplinary project focused on the user-centric design of novel man-machine
interaction paradigms for enhancing health, independence, and being in
an ICT-enabled assisted living, or ambient assisted living (AAL) scenario.

AAL refers to intelligent systems of assistance for a better, healthier
and safer life in the preferred living environment and covers concepts, products and services that interlink
and improve new technologies and the social environment.

DEPICT targets three major functional sub-components which, in turn, map
into three highly interconnected research tracks:

A) Sustainable, smart, and predictive sensing of multisystemic
physiological variables, environmental and contextual signals; (required skills: biomedical
signal processing; embedded systems design)

B) Integrated hard and soft reasoning technologies for estimation,
prediction, control, and self-learning; (required skills: a strong background in Artificial Intelligence)

C) Minimally obtrusive, versatile (indoor/outdoor) cognitive and
companion robots; (required skills: control theory, mechatronic design, robot control,
robust control)

Candidates should have a Ph.D. (preferably in one of the following disciplines: Engineering Sciences, Physics, Neuroscience or Kinesiology). The applicant should demonstrate an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, a strong interest in an interdisciplinary approach and should have expertise in at least one of the following fields: biomedical signal processing, human movement biomechanics,
dynamic modeling, artificial intelligence, robotics, microelectronics.

3 positions lasting two years (grant: EUR 16,138.00 per year)
Start date: April 1, 2011 (May 1, optional)
