The Orthopaedic Mechanobiology Laboratory in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland, College Park is looking to fill a postdoctoral research position to study the mechanobiology of the intervertebral disc. The focus of this position is on the mechanics of intervertebral disc cells subjected to interfacial shear stress, and the role of shear on cellular function. In addition, the individual will interface with collaborators on tissue imaging and computational modeling. The work environment is extremely cross-disciplinary, with other laboratory personnel conducting research on related topics in intervertebral disc and regenerative medicine at various levels of scale. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.

We will be accepting applications from individuals with a Ph.D. degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, or related science/engineering field. Strong fundamentals in engineering mechanics and design is required. Experience in cell culture techniques, confocal microscopy, and image analysis is desired.
