Hosted by Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics
From August 29th to September 2nd 2011
in Vienna University of Technology

Computational biomechanics:
While surgeons usually predict the best solution for their patients based on experience, mathematical models and computer simulations are increasingly used as a tool to support clinical decisions.

Dear colleagues,
As a Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) funded by the European 7th framework programme (FP7), SPINEFX organises workshops to train researchers to overcome the challenges posed by major diseases of the spine.
This is an advertisement for the Computational Biomechanics Workshop to be held in Vienna from August 29th to September 2nd 2011. This one-week training workshop will give to researchers with interest in the exciting field of biomechanical engineering a unique opportunity to acquire and improve their skills as well as build relationships for future research. A number of high quality lectures as well as hands on sessions will be provided in English by academics:
Prof. J.Rasmussen (Aalborg University / AnyBody Technology, Muskuloskeletal Modeling)
Prof. P.K.Zysset (TU Wien, Tissue Modeling)
Dr. D.Pahr (TU Wien, Finite Element Analysis)
Prof. M.Jirasek (CTU Prague, Inelastic Deformation)

Only 6 places supported by the EU are still available for external participants.
The deadline for application is June 30, 2011 .
Application details, leaflet of the event and application form (course flyer) can be found at:

Feel free to ask any questions and return your application form to: maquer@ilsb.tuwien.ac.at
