Call for Participants
Financial support for registration fee and living expenses is available

International MasterClass 2011 in ‘Biomechanics for Design for Injury Prevention’ will take place 11-14th July 2011 at Loughborough University, UK. The three day residential MasterClass offers a unique opportunity for Research Students and Post-Doctoral Researchers currently engaged in the fields of Biomechanics, Design and Injury Prevention to interact with and learn from world-renowned experts in an informal and social environment through constructive discussion of research issues.

Researchers attending International MasterClass 2011 will learn from Masters’ wealth of knowledge and experience. The programme will include keynote lectures from the Masters and an opportunity for researchers to present their current work. The informal environment and small group discussions among researchers and masters will allow researchers to benefit from this interaction. In addition, the experience of discussing research with world- renowned experts can provide valuable experience in defending a line of reasoning. Furthermore, there will be social events and activities.

The attendance fee for all participating researchers will be waived and their living expenses during the Master Class will be met from a grant from the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, UK) / IMCRC (Loughborough University Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre). Travel expenses must be met by the participant. Limited amount of travel grant is available; each application will be evaluated based on its merit.

The main topics of International MasterClass 2011 will include:
• Multi-body modelling for roll-over crashes
• Injury criteria and model based evaluations
• Anthropometry, ergonomics and engineering design
• Roadside and highway safety design
• Design of systems for impact loading
• Human body modelling and design
• Whiplash injuries and seat design
• Pregnant women modelling and restraint system design

To assist in creating an inclusive learning experience and accessibility to Masters, the number of places available at International MasterClass 2011 is strictly limited. Researchers will be required to submit a short ‘work in progress’ paper prior to the event and to make an oral or poster presentation of the paper during the event.
How to Apply:
Applications by email must include:
• Applicant's Name, Contact details
• Current position (e.g. Research Student/ Post Doc Researcher etc)
• A short summary of applicant's current research and expected completion date
• Provisional title and 250-word abstract for the paper/presentation

Please send applications as soon as possible, before Monday 6th June 2011 to:
