Junior Faculty Position - Radiology
University of California San Francisco
The Osteoporosis Research Group (Department of Radiology, Skeletal Section) of
the University of California, San Francisco, in collaboration with the
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is seeking an individual to collaborate in a
pivotal capacity on research in diagnostic medical physics, specifically
imaging techniques for diagnosis of osteoporosis. The appropriate candidate
should have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a field
related to medical imaging and bone densitometry.
The candidate should have interest in osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment,
with the opportunity to interact with an interdisciplinary team at one of the
leading osteoporosis centers in the world. Particular areas of expertise are
to include biomechanical testing and modeling of mechanical properties of bone.
Above and beyond this interest, the candidate must possess a strong aptitude
for originality in research design and implementation as evidenced in
documented scientific accomplishments.
Required skills, knowledge & abilities: Ph.D. as described above, with
experience in diagnostic imaging (preferably osteoporosis and bone
densitometry); understanding of statistics and mathematics; experience in
programming using C, Fortran or Pascal; familiarity with UNIX operating
systems, imaging processing packages, and the SAS programming language also
desirable.
