PORTABLE DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM

Does anyone have any suggestions about portable data acquisition
systems? I would like to put together a system that could be used for
recording/analyzing data from sources such as EMG, force plates,
accelerometers, and that could easily be moved from one testing location to
another. My plan is to combine a 486 PC notebook computer with a
docking station and a standard A/D board. Has anyone done this? If so,
do you have any recommendations about makes/models of notebook
computers, docking stations, A/D boards. We have been using Data
Translation DT 2801-A boards with our desktop systems, and would like
to stay with those (or a similar Data Translation board) if possible, to
reduce the necessity of having to re-write software. However, alternatives
will be considered. Any ideas/suggestions will be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
