Dear Biomch-L readers,

The following item was posted on the RESEARCH list last week; while I do not
know what IREX is, the news certainly deserves reposting on this list: a num-

IREX and the Academy of Sciences of the USSR have signed an agreement to bring
the USSR into the international BITNET/EARN telecommunications network. The
first Soviet node in BITNET will be at the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic
Chemistry. Links will be spread rapidly throughout the institutes of the USSR
Academy of Sciences in all fields. The BITNET connection will put Soviet
researchers into immediate contact with their colleagues in the international
scholarly community. THe IREX/Moscow Office is also connect to the BITNET
system. The USSR Bitnet link is facilitated by IREX in cooperation with BITNET
and the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
