Position available in biomechanical engineering.
================================================

The department of Functional Anatomy of the Academic Centre for
Dentistry Amsterdam (the Netherlands) has an immediate opening for a
graduate student aiming for a PhD on the subject:

Mechanical loading of the human temporomandibular joint.

The purpose of this study is to describe the geometry and mechanical
properties of the temporomandibular joint and to construct a (finite
element) model of this joint. With this model the influence of
various aspects of normal and anomalous construction and function of
the masticatory system on the distribution of loads present in the
temporomandibular joint can be studied.
