SURGERY IN ASSOCIATION WITH ST HILDA'S COLLEGE

Director, Oxford Orthopaedic Engineering Centre (OOEC)

The Department of Engineering Science and the Nuffield Department of
Orthopaedic Surgery propose the appointment of a Director of the OOEC. A member
of both Departments, the Director will have responsibility for the day-to day
management of the OOEC to include the development of major research programmes
and putting into place the necessary resources in support. The Director would
be expected to contribute to the teaching in both Departments and engage in the
associated academic administration.

Candidates should have earned a doctoral degree in engineering which may have
included one or more of the sub-disciplines of bio-engineering, materials,
physics and mathematics. They should also be able to display a substantial
record of research in orthopaedic engineering or bio-materials, have been a
grant holder and have some experience in the supervision of research students.
Experience in clinical collaboration would be an advantage.

This challenging opportunity is offered in the University's grade of RS IIX
with a salary in the range `GBP #20677' - `GBP #28215' pa depending on age and
experience. The successful candidate will be offered a 5 year contract in the
first instance and may be offered an association with St Hilda's College for
which additional emoluments would be available.
