The University of Calgary, Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for a limited term appointment at the Assistant Professor level in Civil
Engineering, starting as soon as possible in the Fall semester of 1996. The
successful candidate will have research interests in the principles and
techniques of structural engineering and mechanics (eg: Finite Element Method)
applied to problems in the field of Biomedical Engineering. Applicants should
have a PhD demonstrating their capability in this area.

A significant contribution to teaching at the graduate level in the
interdisciplinary Biomedical Engineering Programme is expected, as is the
development of a collaborative research programme with the Faculties of Medicine and/or Kinesiology. At the undergraduate level, the appointee will be expected
to teach courses in the structures/structural mechanics stream of the Faculty and Department. The ideal candidate will therefore be an enthusiastic and
capable teacher and researcher with proven skills both in the classroom and in
an interdisciplinary research setting.
