Dear Netters,

We are performing mechanical tests on externally stabilized femurs having
inter-trochanteric and sub-trochanteric fractures. We want to perform the
preliminary tests on epoxy femurs molded from a cadaveric template femur. I
have Araldite-D (epoxy) and Hardener-HY951 of CIBA-GEIGY at hand. The
questions are:

1) What are your experiences in molding bone simulating specimens with
epoxy? Anyone using a material different than plaster of Paris as the
mold material? Other brands, other suppliers for epoxy except the one
stated above?

2) Are there any alternatives to Araldite for the mentioned purpose?

Sincerely
