A postdoctoral biomechanics/engineering position is open
immediately to join ongoing studies of vestibular control of postural
coordination. This position is funded by a NIDCD/NASA Vestibular Center
Grant to Northwestern University and Good Samaritan Hospital. The
successful candidate will work together on joint projects with Fay Horak
and Robert Peterka at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon and with
Felix Zajac at Mechanical Engineering Dept. in Stanford U., Palo Alto
California. Travel between Portland and Palo Alto is provided. Fellows
will gain experience applying biomechanics to the neurophysiology of
vestibulospinal function and to clinical quantification of vestibular
function in humans. One of the aims of the project is to identify the role
of the vestibular otoliths and cannals to postural coordination by
examining both healthy subjects and patients with various types of
vestibular disorders. Experience in engineering and biomechanics is
