Air Force of Scientific Research: Life Sciences Research Grant Program.
Life Sciences supports fundamental research through grants and contracts to
universities and industry on the basis of investigator-initiated proposals in:
neurosciences, vision, audition, cognitive science, toxicology, chronobiology,
computational neuroscience, and spatial orientation. Innovative and interdis-
ciplinary research approaches are especially encouraged. No deadline.

Centers for Disease Control: Injury Control Research 1992 injury control
research grants focusing on prevention of violent and abusive behavior and
unintentional injuries as well as research centers and program grants.
Deadline Oct. 1 (research grants), Feb. 1 (research centers and program
projects) with letters of intent due Dec. 1 for research centers and program
projects.

Dept. of Defense: Augmentation Awards for Science & Engineering Research
Training. Defense Dept. is seeking applications under its new Augmentation
Awards for Science & Engineering Research Training Program, which provides
grants to DoD research grantees and contractors to add one to two graduate
students to their projects. Grants are $100,000 to $150,000. Deadline:
Oct. 31

Health Care Financing Administration: Demonstration cooperative agreements
and grants. HCFA has announced the availability of cooperative agreements
and grants (for up to 3 years) for projects which will focus on major
issues in the financing and delivery of health care under the Medicare &
Medicaid programs. Seven priority research topics have been identified.
