Thanks to all who responded to my query on gait and/or motion analysis labs
around the United States. My responses ranged from web addresses and lists
of possible labs to checking conference participant lists from several
different meetings. If anyone has any additional info please sent it to me.

Thanks again

Here is the original query:

Sorry to bother everyone about something trivial but I have been trying to
find a listing of gait labs (clinical and/or research) in the United States.
I am a graduate student in biomechanics and will be finishing my thesis this
semester. I am interested in job oppurtunities in biomechanics,
specifically gait labs or sports medicine clinics, for a master's entry
level position. I have logged many hours on the internet and in the library
trying to find gait labs around the country. I have found several but I'm
sure there are quite a few more. If anyone has info about a database or
list of gait labs I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance and I will post
any replies.

Off the top of my head, I'm aware of the following gait labs:
Ohio State University
Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Penn State University
University of Virginia
Children's Hospital, San Diego
Siskin Hospital, Chattanooga Tennessee
Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago
Southern Illinois University
Newington Children's Hospital, Connecticut
Helen Hayes Hospital
Gillette Children's Hospital
Children's Hospital of Alabama, Birmingham
University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio

Be aware that many are called Motion Analysis Labs, as opposed to Gait
Labs. I can provide contacts and addresses for most of the above if you
need them. I'm curious to see the complete list.

Dear Kevin,
U might want to try the biomedical enginneering home page at
http://bme.www.ecn.purdue.edu/bme. They have a list of Univerisites in the
US with Biomedical engineering program & U may get leads from there. but I
do know that they have gait analysis labs at U.Virginia & U michigan, Ann=

I know of one in Springfield Illinois at the Memorial Hospital there. =20
I worked as an engineering intern there in the summer of '95.

Please forward your compiled list to me, if possible.

(There is a list of current subscribers to the clinical gait listserv on
there web site or if you would like a list contact me --Kevin Ford)

Shouldn't take you long to go through and pick out the ones in the US (those
ending in edu or gov or com).

Best wishes,

hi kevin,

this is not altogether what you are looking for, however, you may find one
or two "new" leads here.

Dear Kevin,

For university labs you should check

You might try contacting the North American Society of Gait and
Clinical Movement Analysis. The membership chairperson is Susan Sienko
Thomas. Her email about a year ago was: sst@alphie.shcc.org I don't
know if a list of labs is readily available but many of the members work
in gait labs that would be identified in their addresses.
