Research Studentship in Exercise Physiology/Biomechanics (Kayaking)
3 years bursary - stlg5250p.a. (Commencing 1/9/97)

This joint funded project offers an opportunity to combine researching for a
higher degree with gaining experience in a scientific support capacity.
The research will be centred around the validation of land-based protocols to
evaluate and predict canoeing performance, and an investigation into the effect
of different techniques on resultant performance in flat water canoeing.
The candidate will be expected to contribute to scientific support for University
and Regional High Performance Squads of canoeists, and therein work towards
British Association for Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) accredited status.
The support work will involve laboratory based testing, field testing, athlete
and coach education and a contribution to regional Sport Science workshops.

Applicants should have a minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours Degree
in an appropriate discipline and have experience working in a human performance
laboratory. An interest in canoeing is highly desirable.
