A position is available immediately for a research assistant in
the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory at Boston's Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center. The Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory
is a multi-disciplinary research facility involved in basic and
applied research in eight areas: 1)Etiology and prevention of
age-related fractures, 2) Pre-clinical studies of osteodynamic
agents, 3) Joint injuries and reconstructions, 4) Osteoporosis
screening and diagnosis, 5) Metastatic and benign bone defects 6)
Basic bone mechanics, 7) Spinal reconstruction, and 8) Fracture
healing and treatment.

The successful applicant will work primarily on finite element
modeling of bones and implants. Mechanical testing and
participation in other laboratory experiments as needed will also
be a part of the job. Qualifications include an MS in engineering
and practical experience with finite element modeling. The ideal
candidate will have experience with modeling biological systems
using ABAQUS, PATRAN and/or I-DEAS.
