NeuroMus subscribers,

The US government's National Library of Medicine recently made two
significant announcements which were, unfortunately, eclipsed by Mike
Tyson's late-night "snack". MEDLINE is now available through the NLM's
website for *no* charge. This is a significant departure from the NLM's
previous fee-based system... and from the "watered-down", but free,
versions of MEDLINE that several vendors made available. This new, free
service does not even require registration for the web user.

NLM also announced a new experimental system for searching MEDLINE, =
where
users can be linked to the web sites of publishers, enabling the =
retrieval
of full text articles. This service, called PUBMED, offers a variety of
display formats and printing/saving, including importing into
bibliographic manager programs. Preformatted searches can also be
performed; simply find an article/abstract of interest, and select
"related articles". The service is free and does not require
registration.
