View Full Version : Mechanical testing of healing bone

We have been torsionally testing some specimens, but are skeptical about
the results we are getting. The proposed study will involve the testing
of healing bone, so we are anticipating a soft, flexible healing site.

We have the ability to perform axial, torsional and 4-point bending.
Ultrasound has been ruled out because the healing sites need to be
maintained for histological analysis.

Does any one know of the "best" technique for nondestructive mechanical
testing of healing fracture sites? Which method provides the most
significant information concerning bone properties?

Thanks in advance for your help.
