POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Generalist in Health and/or Physical
Education
Full-time, tenure track, academic
year appointment
Starting August, 1992

RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor/salary

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate/ABD in Health,
Physical Education, or
Related Discipline

Ability to teach in one of the
following subdomains of health and
physical education: Exercise
Physiology, Motor Learning,
Pedagogy, School Health, Sociology
of Sport, Sport Management, or
Other Related Area

DUTIES: Teach courses in
graduate/undergraduate curriculum

Supervise graduate practica,
independent studies, theses, and
dissertations

Conduct research and scholarly
activity

Participate in external/internal
grant writing

Conduct professional service
Participate in the College of
Education, Department of Human
Performance and Health Promotion
collaborative Ph.D. program

DEPARTMENT: The Department is one of our four units
in the College of Education, has a faculty of 13, and offers
degrees at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The
faculty is active in research and scholarly publications, and
dedicated to maintaining the quality and integrity of the
undergraduate and graduate programs.

UNIVERSITY: The University of New Orleans, the major
urban institution in the Louisiana State University system, is
a comprehensive selective admissions university. It is located
on the southern shore of scenic Lake Pontchartrain, 5 miles
from the historic French Quarter. Founded in 1958, the
University has a current enrollment of 16,000 students.
