The University of Calgary invites applications and nominations
for the Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology with a term commencing
July 1, 1998. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in
Kinesiology or a related discipline.

The University of Calgary seeks a person with a vision which
recognizes and values the varying disciplinary commitments of the
Faculty of Kinesiology. The applicant will have proven
leadership abilities and administrative experience in an academic
setting. Operating within some of the finest facilities in the
world, the Dean will work to enhance the national and
international research and academic reputations of the Faculty,
advocating the place of Kinesiology in the development if
scientific knowledge and in the advancement of the human
condition through both the natural and social sciences. The Dean
will have the ability to work with various communities both on
and off campus.

The Faculty of Kinesiology is one of the largest of its kind in
Canada with more than 30 full-time faculty members, 650
undergraduate students, and 50 graduate students. Programs of
study are offered at the Bachelor (B.Kin and B.Sc.) and the
Masters (M.Sc. and M.Kin.) levels. Kinesiology has strong ties
with the faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Education, and
Social Sciences, and Kinesiologists contribute to doctoral
programs in these areas. The Faculty is comprised of many groups
including the Human Performance Laboratory, Sport Medicine
Centre, Sport Technology Research Centre, Social Sciences
Research Group, as well as the Active Lifestyle and Sport
Division composed of Athletics, Campus Recreation, Facilities,
