EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR ENGINEERING AND MEDICINE (ESEM)

During the First European Conference on Biomedical Engineering in Nice/France
(Febr. 1991), the European Society for Engineering and Medicine was founded.

Objectives of ESEM

The purpose of the society is to create the opportunity for both the
researchers from the various disciplines and from industry to meet and
exchange methods and approaches, research results, and to produce ideas.

Regular European meetings will be organised with contributions from
specialists in medical and biological disciplines, engineers, physicists
and information scientists from universities, hospitals, research centres
and industry, in such a way that cross-disciplinary exchanges will be
stimulated.

A further means for scientific communication is foreseen by establishing
a European journal.

A Second European Conference on Biomedical Engineering (ECBE) will be held in
Stuttgart from 25 until 28 April 1993. Inbetween there might be one or two
topical workshops. Further information on the Second ECBE can be obtained
from the Conference organizers:
