CALL FOR ABSTRACTS FOR THE SIXTH ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM ON
COMPUTATIONAL METHODS IN ORTHOPAEDIC BIOMECHANICS

The 1998 PreORS Symposium on Computational Methods in Orthopaedic
Biomechanics will be held on Sunday, March 15 at Tulane University in
New Orleans, preceding the 44th Annual Meeting of the Orthopaedic
Research Society.
Since its inception in 1993, this symposium has provided a more
informal setting where graduate students and/or recent graduates have
presented their recent and on-going computational work related to
orthopaedic biomechanics. The audience has also included senior
researchers in the field. This meeting has been a very valuable
educational experience by providing a forum for open discussion and
sharing of ideas.
In the past papers have been presented in the areas of soft tissue
mechanics, bone mechanics, total joint replacement, normal function and
adaptation, contact formulations and dynamic analyses of the
muskuloskeletal system. We hope to continue covering the full spectrum
of computational applications in orthopaedic biomechanics and would
encourage presentations with preliminary results or that have emphasis
on computational methodologies. It would be acceptable to present
computational issues related to work being presented at the Orthopaedic
Research Society.
Presentations will last 15 minutes followed by 5 minutes of
discussion. Each session will be led by two co-chairs. There will be
four sessions total, with breaks in between and lunch. The day will end
with a New Orleans' style crawfish boil.

TO SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT
Send by e-mail a title, authors (& affiliations), and an abstract
(plain text, no figures) of less than 350 words.
Please send this to: preors98@nautilus.bmen.tulane.edu.
The deadline for submission is Friday, January 16, 1998. Notification of
acceptance will be by mid February.

The final program with the accepted abstracts will be posted on a WWW
site that will also include directions to the location of the symposium.
An electronic version of the program will also be sent to the mail list
of the symposium.

TO PRE-REGISTER:
Return this message to preors98@nautilus.bmen.tulane.edu with your name
and affiliation. A confirmation will be sent back to you.
Registration will also be possible on-site.

Also if you have any questions or comments about the symposium, please
send e-mail to this address also.

We look forward to your abstract submission and to seeing you at the
symposium.
