Dear Biomch-L Subscribers,

I'm interested in cleaning and defatting the outer surface of intact
proximal femora.
Most of the muscle and others soft tissues have been removed and now I need to
use some sort of chemical agent to remove or dissolve the remainder while
jubjecting
them to ultrasonic agitation.

I am not concerned with any small tissue damage on the outer cortical shell,
but I do
need the cancellous bone to be totally unaffected, as samples will later be
extracted
for mechanical testing.

Does anybody have any suggestions for an appropriate agent ( e.g. alcohol,
ethyl trichloride) or any alternative methods?

I will post a list of responses.

Many thanks in advance,

Constantine Glaros
