Hello from a new subscriber

I am probably posting a very basic question, and one that has been
discussed previously, but I am new to this area of research and could use
some help. I work with brain-injured patients, and want to assess changes
in the EMG patterns of elbow extension (i.e., the relationships between
agonists & antagonists activity) for controlled gradual increases in
velocity up to each patient's maximum. My question is regarding measurement
of the movement velocity. Can I adequately derive velocity values from
displacement (goniometric measurement) & time data? Or should this value be
measured directly, and if so what is the best tool(s) for this purpose?

Thanks in advance for any advice, direction, or reference recommendations.
I will post a summary of the responses.
