PhD Scholarships in Biomechanics and Biomaterials

At least three PhD scholarships are available for European citizens to
pursue research in Biomechanics and Biomaterials within the School of
Sport and Exercise Sciences. The scholarships are for three years and
the starting date is negotiable. In accordance with University
policy, registration will normally be for the degree of MPhil
initially, with subsequent transfer to the PhD programme conditional
on satisfactory performance. The yearly value of the scholarship is
5,500 per annum plus fees. In addition, there is usually the
opportunity to earn extra money by contributing to the School's
undergraduate teaching programmes. Preference will be given to
students with an interest in the following areas:

Modelling, Simulation, Optimisation in sports biomechanics
Biomechanics of the Musculo-skeletal system
Biomechanics of orthopaedic injuries and rehabilitation
Mechanical properties of bone, and its adaptation to functional load

Applications, which should be in the form of a curriculum vitae with
the name and address of two academic referees, and informal inquiries
