A post-doc position is available immediately in the Department of Physical
Therapy, University of Vermont. This position is funded by the National
Institute of Health to conduct a research project that addresses the
fundamental question of how peripheral sensory information is processed by
the central nervous system in the young and elderly populations. The
research will involve the use of both biomechanical models and human
subject experiments. The following backgrounds of the candidate are required:

1. Strong biomechanical background in human postural control, including the
use of state-of-the-art motion analysis system, force platforms, EMG, and
postural perturbation device; and experiences with human subject experiments.
2. Strong background in modeling, including rigid body dynamics, artificial
neural network, and non-linear system control.
3. Strong background in computer programming, including the use of C++ and
4. Highly motivated, independent, and self-initiated.
5. A record of publications in the related fields is a plus.
6. Commitment to at least 18-24 months.
