Tenure Track Positions in Computational Tissue/Cell Mechanics

The Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for two
tenure-track faculty positions that will be available as early as January 1,
1999.

Both positions are funded by a newly awarded Whitaker Special Opportunity Award,
"Establishing Excellence in Computational Tissue Mechanics." We seek both senior
and junior level faculty members whose focus includes computational cell and
tissue biomechanics research. These positions (with associated start-up funds,
Research Assistants and Post-doctoral scholars) will allow for rapid expansion
of the department's focus -- which already includes macro-scale biomechanics
work in biosolids and biofluids and experimental cell and tissue engineering --
to include micro-scale investigations of cell and tissues.

The department, founded in 1977, presently has 10 full-time faculty members, an
ABET accredited undergraduate program with approximately 200 undergraduate
majors and 50 graduate students. Applicants must have an earned doctorate, and
will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop an
externally funded research program.

We plan to begin interviews with the top candidates by November 15, 1998.
However, the search will continue until both positions are filled.

Send a CV, a brief description of research and teaching interests, and names and
addresses of three references to:
