The Department of Health and Performance Sciences at Georgia Tech invites
applications for a nine-month appointment, tenure-track faculty position
in the area of movement science. While candidates from all related fields are
encouraged to apply, we have a particular interest in individuals with
expertise
in one or more of the following areas: the neural control of movement, systems
physiology, the effects of aging on the neuromotor system or neuromuscular
biomechanics as it applies to the control of movement. The successful
candidate must have an earned doctoral degree, an established record of
scholarship
and documented commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service.
The
candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized research program,
participate in interdisciplinary research activities and teach undergraduate
and graduate students in the movement sciences. Salary will be commensurate
with education and experience.
The Department of Health and Performance Sciences is in the College of
Sciences, one of six colleges at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The
focus
of the Department is in the movement sciences and the development of a
graduate
faculty to support a graduate program in the movement sciences. Current
faculty
members are active in the areas of biomechanics and systems physiology.
Collaborations currently exist with the Center for Human Movement Studies at
Georgia Tech, selected Departments within the Emory University School of
Medicine and the Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital.
Interested individuals should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae,
three recent publications and the names, addresses, email addresses and phone
numbers of at least three individuals we would contact for letters of
recommendation. Applications will be reviewed beginning immediately and
continue until the position is filled. Once a candidate is selected the
position can start immediately. To receive full consideration we suggest
completed applications be received no later than November 30, 1998.
