Dear subscribers:

Our biomechanic laboratory is planning an experimental survey dealing
with the assessment of vibrations transmitted to a bicyclist and their
effect on human performance, especially on the eccentric muscular
contractions of the lower limbs.
Therefore we are looking for a second hand electrodynamic shaker
(ideally two), possibly hydrodynamic shakers, including the power supply
and the cooling system in order to simulate the ground surface input
with further requirements:

- Type of signal: random and sinus

- Operational frequency range: 0 - 200 Hz

- Dynamic force output: as hight as possible in the above frequency
range with at least 100 N, knowing that our below mentioned budget will
certainly limit us to low force devices.
The global weight of the system to be shaken, i.e. bicycle and rider
should be around 100 kg. Nevertheless, as the system is not a rigid body
- each link between the bicycle and the rider can usually be modeled as
a spring and a damper in parallel - it should be possible to consider
only the weigth of the bicycle, feet, hands, forearms and shanks -
around m = 20 kg - in order to assess the dynamic force required for a
given amplitude and acceleration at the wheels.
Thus, in order to reach around a = 5g acceleration and d = 10 mm
displacement at the wheels, a shaker with maximal dynamic force output
of F = m.a = 100 N for d = 10 mm should be enough.

- Peak-to-peak displacement: around 10 mm at full load

- Acceleration: same remark as for force output

- Fixing: free mounting to the bicycle frame or to the home trainer
(see http://wwwperso.hol.fr/~pgillen/PPVIBCYC.HTM#facility )

- Available budget: around 12,000 $ for shaker(s), power supply and
cooling system.

Should someone have some information, e.g. address of suppliers,
purchase opportunity, about such used equipement, that could fit our
previous described needs, we would be pleased to get them knowing that
our lab has to decide for the purchase within one month.

We have already got the appended list of possible suppliers of shakers
and other vibration test and measurement systems (mainly new but also
used equipment).
