View Full Version : RESEARCH RESOURCES

I compiled this note for various other medically-oriented user groups and
thought that it may be of value to some members of this group.

SAVE THIS INFO IF YOU DO RESEARCH

Many requests for information on medically topics are sent to user groups such
as this one, often because the standard search engines give inadequate
guidance. Either that, or fairly recent users of the Internet just do not
know where to begin, while others do not have ready access to adequate
libraries. Yet others do not feel inclined to visit the library.

Whatever the reason for dashing to the user group, it can make your academic
or privately curious life a lot easier and more productive if you can quickly
make use of productive resources onwhatever topic interests you.

In previous postings, I have given lists of useful search engines and other
web resources and I trust that they have been of assistance. I have now
compiled a list of websites that will help you access many medically-related
academic journals in a very wide range of disciplines.

If you find this posting useful, I ask for only one thing in return - if you
come across anything which might be of interest to other members of the group,
please give us all a bit of feedback on that topic.

For those of you who may have missed my recommendations for useful search
facilities, here are some of them again, plus many new ones:

SEARCH ENGINES

These can be extremely useful in two situations:

1. Searching from scratch (don't rush to any user group for a quick fix at
least until
you have used these facilities!).

2. Searching after all of the other sources suggested here have yielded
little.
