The Orthopaedic Biomechanics Research Laboratory at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado is seeking a full-time
Professional
Research Assistant. The focus of the lab is to study the normal, pathologic,
and rehabilitation biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system. The incumbent
will work under the general direction of the laboratory director and will
collaborate with clinical faculty, medical residents, other research
personnel,
and engineering graduate and undergraduate students.

Salary Range:
Negotiated depending on experience. This is a full-time position.

Education/Experience:
Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or a related
field.
At least three years practical experience performing experimental biomechanics
or experimental mechanics research.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in basic hardware fabrication with machine shop tools.
Computer application programming experience in Visual Basic, Labview, C, or
other appropriate environment.
Experience with computer based word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical
analysis software.
Experience in electronic assembly.
Expertise in computer based modeling (CAD, dynamic analysis, finite element
analysis).
Instron experience.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and private sponsor guidelines and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to interact effectively with individuals from a variety of
backgrounds.

Duties include:
Setup and execution of mechanical experiments on hard and soft tissues.
Dissection and preparation of cadaveric specimens for testing.
Programming data acquisition and analysis software.
Performance of statistical analysis of data
Writing research reports/journal articles
Design and fabricate specialized fixtures for testing.
Write research reports and journal articles.
Oversight of student research projects.
Provide advice and assistance to, and work cooperatively with, other
researchers working in the laboratory.
