Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is pleased to announce federal,
foundation, and institutional awards for funds to support Biomedical
Engineering doctoral students. Funds are available through grants from the
US Department of Education, the Whitaker Foundation. the National Science
Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Enthusiastic candidates
with research interests and solid academic records are eligible. Priority
will be given to individuals with previous graduate training (MS degree)
and/or industry experience. Doctoral programs are available through the
Departments of Biomedical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering as well
as through the joint WPI - University of Massachusetts Medical School
(UMMS) Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics PhD Program.

Current teaching and research within the Biomedical Engineering field at
WPI focuses on four general areas: 1) Biomechanics & biomaterials; 2)
Biosensors & medical instrumentation; 3) Medical imaging; and 4)
Rehabilitation. Additional research and teaching directions are available
at UMMS and through collaborations with other local universities and the
medical device/biotechnology industry.

Interested candidates should: 1) submit a cover letter and a resume'/CV
outlining their graduate interests and goals; 2) request a graduate
admissions packet or apply online at the WPI website below. Upon
acceptance into the WPI graduate school, candidates will then be considered
for funding.
