25th Annual Northeast
Bioengineering Conference

Hartford, Connecticut
April 8-9,1999

Held by the Biomedical Engineering Alliance for Connecticut (BEACON)

The Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference promotes cooperation
and excellence in biomedical engineering and computing activities
through the exchange of technical information. The conference covers
important developments in engineering and science that affect the
biomedical field. This conference is being presented by the Biomedical
Alliance for Connecticut (BEACON), and its four founding institutions:
the University of Hartford, Trinity College, the University of
Connecticut at Storrs, and the UCONN Health Center. This conference
is held under the auspices of the IEEE.

Session titles include:

Assistive Devices Devices for Environmental Control Mobility
Biomechanics Educational Devices Monitoring & Biomedical
Instrumentation
Cardiovascular Mechanics Medical Imaging & Imaging Systems Neural
Systems
& Systems
Cellular Mechanics &
Instrumentation

Other meeting highlights include:
A round table session regarding the future directions of
biomedical engineering education organized by students in these
programs.
A plenary speech by Dr. Janie Fouke, Director of the
Bioengineering and Environmental System Division of the Engineering
Directorate of the NSF.

Registration Fee:
The registration fee for the conference is $175, or $200 for
registrations received after March 15, 1999. The student rate is $60.
This fee covers the cost of a banquet, all coffee breaks, and the
published proceedings. Please make checks payable to: Northeast
Bioengineering Conference, University of Hartford.

Location:
The conference will be held at the University of Hartford, just
outside Hartford, Connecticut. The campus is close to major highways,
the airport, and rail transportation.

Hotel Costs:
Hotel rooms have been blocked at the Hilton Hotel in Hartford at the
conference rate of $119. Other hotels in the area include the West
Hartford Inn, and Avon Old Farm Hotel.
