Position description: One-year temporary position at Assistant Professor or
Lecturer rank with possibility for conversion to tenure-track after the
first year. Appointment date is September 1, 1999. Salary commensurate with
degree and experience.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Kinesiology or related
field with specialization in applied exercise physiology. Ability to conduct
research and to secure funding for research. Evidence of successful
teaching. Understanding of and appreciation for the multidisciplinary nature
of Kinesiology. Ability to work successfully in a multi-ethnic,
multi-cultural setting.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in exercise
physiology and possibly other areas, conduct research, provide service to
the university and community, and assist with student advising.

General Information: The University of Texas at El Paso, with an enrollment
of approximately 16,000 students, is located in the basin of the Franklin
Mountains. The city of El Paso, with a population of 700,000, is positioned
in the worldís largest binational metropolitan area, adjacent to the city of
Juarez, Mexico. The University offers 60 bachelorís degrees, 53 masterís
degrees, and 7 doctoral degrees. The Kinesiology Program offers B.S. and
M.S. degrees in Kinesiology. There are currently more than 400
undergraduates and approximately 30 graduate students pursuing these
