Assistant Research Scientist
The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI)

The Biosciences Division of The University of Michigan Transportation
Research Institute (UMTRI) is seeking to fill a position of Assistant
Research Scientist. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and
conduct experimental research in impact biomechanics and related
disciplines on projects that seek to determine human response to high-g
loading and the mechanisms by which injuries occur under crash conditions.
Candidates must have successfully completed a doctoral program in
engineering or physics, with a focus on impact biomechanics research, or be
expecting to complete a doctorate within the next six months. He or she
will be expected to develop clearly written research proposals that
effectively address identified research issues and to communicate with
potential sponsors on future research activities. Experience and knowledge
of computational modeling techniques is desirable. The person in this
position will design and develop test facilities, analyze and interprete
data, and write and present papers and reports on research conducted. An
ability to work both independently and as a member of a research team is

UMTRI is an independent, multi-disciplinary, self-supporting research
institute of the University of Michigan. The focus of the research is
primarily on motor-vehicle transportation, with an emphasis on issues
relating to motor vehicle safety.
