Hi everyone,

I am investigating the adherence strategies of limpets (a marine mollusc) in
response to the hydrodynamic drag and lift forces induced by wave action.
Limpets clamp their shells down hard against the substratum to stop being
washed away. This creates the interesting situation of the substratum being
subjected simultaneously to compression forces from the shell, and tensile
forces from the adhering foot.

What I would like to know, is does anyone know if the tekscan type pressure
sensors can cope with tensile loads? If so, can the hardware and software
measure these forces?

If the sensor could only measure compressive forces it would still be
useful, but I want to be sure that tensile forces don't ruin the sensor array.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
