Applications are being accepted for Doctoral study in the area of
Neuromuscular Biomechanics of the Hand at Cornell University.

The Doctoral Students will work under the direction of Prof. Francisco
Valero-Cuevas in the Neuromuscular Biomechanics Laboratory of the Sibley
School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, as well as in collaboration
with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Research topics include the motor control, biomechanics and surgical
rehabilitation of the human hand, with emphasis on human grasping function.

Essential Criteria: Applicants must have a strong background in
engineering, neuroscience or life sciences, and a strong interest in the
biomechanics, motor control or surgery of the human hand. Preference will
be given to applicants with research experience at the Masters degree or
equivalent. English proficiency is essential.

Application process: Applicants should visit the Cornell University web
page for perspective graduate students
(http://www.gradschool.cornell.edu/grad/admissions/mainpage.html) and
follow the directions listed for the Graduate Field of Biomedical
Engineering. A web-based application is available.

Student Support: Besides the opportunities listed in the Cornell University
web page listed above, a limited number of Teaching and Research
Assistantships are available for outstanding candidates.

Application Deadlines: Jan. 15 (without aid, May 1).
