Dear Colleagues,

First, I would like thank the respondents to the survey. I do appreciate
the time that it took to respond. I will now present some numbers and brief
notes when it clarifies things.

THE TOTAL NUMBER OF RESPONDENTS WAS 17

1. What is the average class size for introductory biomechanics?
RESPONSE: mean=76 students range 15-140 students.

2. Do you teach multiple sections of introductory biomechanics?
RESPONSE: yes=15/17 no=2/17
Note: this includes programs that offered introductory biomechanics more
than once per year.

3. What is the failure rate for introductory biomechanics?
RESPONSE: mean=10% range 1-20%
Note: this information was unknown to one respondent.

4. What are the prerequisites for introductory biomechanics?
RESPONSE:
Anatomy=12/17
Physics=8/17
Physiology=2/17
Kinesiology=3/17
Math=10/17
Computer Science=1/17
Biology=3/17
Note: When there was no biological science prerequisite, there was a
physical science prerequisite.

5. What are the entrance requirements for your program?
RESPONSE: This question was too vague to formulate a summary.

6. What is the average class size for advanced biomechanics?
RESPONSE: mean=23 students range=5-80 students
Note: 14 respondents had an advanced biomechanics course.

7. Do you teach multiple sections of your advanced biomechanics courses?
RESPONSE: yes=5/14 no=9/14

8. What are there prerequisites for advanced biomechanics?
RESPONSE: Introductory biomechanics=14/14
