Head of New Section of Orthopaedic Surgery Research
The Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopaedic Surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation are jointly seeking applicants for a senior staff/faculty position for the Head of a newly created Section of Orthopaedic Surgery Research. The Section Head will develop a new joint research and development program interfaced seamlessly between the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The Section Head will be responsible for formulating the research and development plan for the Section, and for recruiting at least 3 additional new staff members into the Section with exceptional expertise in musculoskeletal research. This new Section will utilize interdisciplinary expertise in engineering, basic science and clinical applications prominently featured in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Lerner Research Institute. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (individuals with a strong background in an engineering discipline preferred); a record of independent orthopaedic research with significant extramural research funding; a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals; and a clear ability to work closely with practicing orthopaedic surgeons.
