    N.B. The following Biomedical Engineering position is offered in
    conjunction with the new School of Biomedical Engineering at
    Dalhousie University. It is anticipated that the successful
    candidate will be cross-appointed into the School and will teach and
    supervise Biomedical Engineering graduate students.

    DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY
    SCHOOL OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

    REHABILITATION ENGINEER

    Applications are invited for a full-time probationary tenure track
    position at the assistant professor level, in the School of
    Occupational Therapy. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications
    and experience, starting August 1, 2001, subject to budgetary
    approval.

    The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or
    Rehabilitation Engineering, preferably with post-doctoral academic
    or industrial experience. Responsibilities will include teaching and
    research in the area of rehabilitation technology and biomechanics,
    including human- computer interfaces and environmental design to
    reduce daily living challenges for those with performance
    limitations associated with disability or aging. The individual will
    be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching,
    including graduate student supervision, to develop distance course
    delivery for continuing and graduate education, and to develop
    rehabilitation technology and design consulting services to meet
    Atlantic Canadian needs.

    Dalhousie's School of Occupational Therapy is situated in a visionary
    Faculty of Health Professions. Started in 1982 with an honours
    undergraduate program, the School launched a Master of Science
    (Occupational Therapy) program in 1998 through distance learning to
    meet Atlantic region, national, and international needs in
    occupational therapy. Faculty interests are diverse, and are linked
    through interests in occupation, defined broadly to refer to unpaid
    as well as paid forms of engagement in daily life.

    Halifax is a small but international, historic city located on the
    Atlantic Ocean, with substantial lifestyle advantages such as music,
    theatre, festivals, ocean beaches, hiking, camping, fishing, whale
    watching, and good schools and universities.
