Hello:
I am calibrating an impact machine and would like to know average
initial vertical impact force scores (Fz1) produced from heel-strike
at a given speed. To this point I have not seen any normative tables
on average heel-strike values for any population. Ideally, I would
like to calibrate the impact machine to each participant in my study
which brings me to my question: Does anyone know of any normative
charts done on the initial impact peak of vertical ground reaction
force. Preferably a sample population of males ranging in weight from
150-200 pounds at speeds between 2 m/s to 4.5 m/s. Thus, knowing an
individuals weight and velocity, I would like to know what their
average initial vertical impact force would be to set up our impact
machine.
Any comments, research, or direction would be much appreciated.A
summary of the responses would gladly be posted.
Thanks, Kal Valjakka, Lakehead University
