Research Engineer - Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia and
Vancouver Hospital invites applications for a research engineer in the
Division of Orthopaedic Engineering Research. The successful candidate
will also serve as the laboratory manager within the Division.
Responsibilities for this position include the implementation and
management of various interdisciplinary research projects. Applicants must
have research experience in experimental biomechanics, with specific
expertise in mechanical testing, device fabrication, and general computer
programming. The position involves some administrative duties and the
supervision and support of students conducting experiments in the
laboratory. A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
is preferred. Exceptional candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be
considered if sufficient experience can be demonstrated. The position is
available from May 1, 2000, and salary will be commensurate with
experience.
The Division of Orthopaedic Engineering Research was established in October
1997 to conduct collaborative research between biomedical engineers and
orthopaedic surgeons. Graduate students within the Division are enrolled
in Mechanical Engineering at UBC while residents and fellows are from the
Department of Orthopaedics. More information can be found at
