  • Bone fixation in PMMA

    Dear netters:
Recently I was looking for information regarding elasticity testing in rats.
To my big surprise there were very limited responses, and it seems there is
    no acceptable method or test.
I decided to go for 4-point bending using an Instron. I am planning on
fixing the rats tibia in square blocks of PMMA on both ends. The trouble is
that so far, I could not get a real fixation. The bone is a little free in
    the cement.
I assume reshaping the bone or scratching it or putting nails through might
help. But it might also change the measured parameters!
I'll welcome any useful idea or sharing of experience.
    Thanks, Moshe
