    COMPUTATIONAL BIOMECHANICS EXPERT (RESEARCH CONTRACT)

The Laboratorio di Tecnologia Medica of the Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli is
a research unit specialised in technology transfer to the clinical practice
with particular reference to orthopaedics and traumatology. The Istituti
Ortopedici Rizzoli are the largest orthopaedic-only hospital in Italy and
the reference centre in orthopaedics for the Italian Ministry of Health.

A position is currently open, to be covered as soon as possible, for an
experienced finite element analyst willing to join the lab. An extensive
and documented experience on the use of finite element analysis to
investigate complex biomechanical problems is required. Any specific
previous research experience on bone mechanics, contact mechanics or
bone-implant interaction will be considered a bonus. Work will be mostly
done using Ansys, Patran and Unigraphics, running on a variety of platforms
from NT workstations to supercomputers. Any familiarity with these
particular programs will be positively considered.

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The selected candidate will operate as part of a small staff of
biomechanical and biomedical engineers, orthopaedics surgeons and medical
physicists running a small set of research projects dealing with the
biomechanical modelling of bone-implant interaction and simulation of
    failure processes.

A resume, letter of interest, and names of three references should be sent
    to mailto:viceconti@ior.it
