    Shriners Hospitals for Children, Greenville, South Carolina has an
    immediate, full-time opening for a highly motivated engineer in the Motion
    Analysis Laboratory. Responsibilities associated with this new position
    include:

    · to monitor and assure proper configuration, integration,
    and operation of all computer systems, data collection
    equipment, and associated peripheral devices,
    · to develop gait data collection and reduction hardware
    and software enhancements as needed,
    · to monitor data and protocols for accuracy, reliability,
    and appropriateness,
    · to research all hardware and software systems purchases,
    · to serve as backup for routine patient data collection, and
    · to assist in research activities including research design,
    data collection and analysis, scientific writing.

    Candidates must have a degree in Electrical Engineering (or related
    engineering discipline) and at least three years of experience working in a
    motion analysis laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a detailed
    knowledge of quantitative motion analysis measurement equipment and
    systems, one or more computer programming languages, industrial
    electronics, and computer systems management. This candidate will also
    possess a working knowledge of movement biomechanics and of normal and
    pathologic gait patterns. The salary for this position is competitive and
    commensurate with experience and education level. This position includes a
    full compensation and benefits package.

    Shriners Hospitals for Children, Greenville is a 50-bed pediatric specialty
    hospital that serves six Southeastern states and offers the highest quality
    orthopaedic medical care to children and adolescents at no cost to the
    patient or the patient's family.

    The Motion Analysis Laboratory was established in 1994 and is equipped with
    a six camera motion capture system (Vicon 370), two force platforms (AMTI),
    a sixteen channel EMG system (Motion Lab Systems), a plantar pressure
    measurement system (EMED) and a metabolic energy measurement system (Cosmed
    K4). The laboratory utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach that
    combines biomechanics, engineering and clinical expertise to assess the
    posture and walking patterns of children and adolescents with cerebral
    palsy, myelodysplasia, club foot, hip deformity, limb deficiency and other
    neurologic and orthopaedic conditions.
