The Orthopaedic Research Laboratories (ORL) of the University of Michigan
is seeking to immediately hire a full-time research assistant. The ORL is
a multidisciplinary organization that conducts research on a wide variety
of musculoskeletal topics. This position is to support the sports
medicine research of the laboratory. Current projects include in vivo
kinematic analysis of shoulder disorders, experimental investigation of
shoulder mechanics using cadavers, computer simulation of the shoulder
mechanism, electromyographic measurements of shoulder muscle activity, and
development of animal models. Duties will include conducting biomechanical
testing, musculoskeletal modeling using interactive software, and human
performance testing. Duties will also include data management and
analysis. Experience with LabView and Matlab is desirable. The
successful candidate will work with faculty, staff, and graduate students
to conduct research in orthopaedic biomechanics. The successful applicant
will have at least a B.S. in engineering with an emphasis on biomechanics.
Funding for this position comes from intramural and extramural sources.
