    BIOLOGIST

    Research Assistant Professor

    The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of
    Vermont is seeking applicants for a research track faculty position. One
    of the primary initiatives of our research group has been the investigation
    of the relationship between altered biomechanics, e.g., articular contact
    conditions and skeletal loading, and the metabolism of articular cartilage
    and growth plate matrix. Applicants should have background and experience
    in the investigation of disease mechanisms, e.g., signaling, cytokines,
    cox-2, N O, apoptosis, proteases, matrix properties, gene expression,
    various intervention opportunities, as well as cartilage and matrix repair,
    e.g., growth factors and morphogens, stem cells, repair in animal models
    and patients, and intervention opportunities. This position will involve
    collaboration with other faculty members interested in epidemiology of
    osteoarthritis and scoliosis, and corresponding intervention and prevention
    programs.
