Ph.D. Fellowships Available at Arizona State University

    NSF Sponsored
Integrated Graduate Education and Research Training (IGERT)Program on
Musculoskeletal and Neural Adaptations in Form and Function

The goal of this IGERT program is to introduce Ph.D. students with diverse
biological and engineering backgrounds to the challenges of deciphering
complex phenomena in neuroscience, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and
musculoskeletal morphology, and to foster interdisciplinary education and
training in research efforts toward meeting these challenges. Graduate
training will expand upon two related areas in which participating faculty
have developed research and teaching collaborations: (1) mechanisms
underlying neural control of movements, emphasizing hand function and
locomotion, and (2) evolutionary morphology of the human hand and
    bipedality.

IGERT fellows will work with a team of faculty members from ASU, Barrow
Neurological Institute and Institute of Human Origins on research projects
in newly developed multidisciplinary areas. They will have access to
state-of-art facilities for their research and education needs and
opportunities to interact with leading scientists.

We invite motivated students to apply for IGERT Fellowships. Based on
qualifications of the applicants we expect to award 10-14 fellowships.

Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the USA.
Must have interest in one of the following participating Ph.D. programs at
ASU: Anthropology, Bioengineering, Biology, or Exercise Science.

IGERT fellowship provides: Stipend of $15,000 plus tuition waiver and
allowances for conference travel and research supplies (including a notebook
    computer).
Application: In addition to the application material required by each
graduate program, please also submit a written essay on the goal of your
graduate education and importance of interdisciplinary approaches toward
    your goal.
