The UK Sports Institute (UKSI) will provide elite sport in the UK with the
support needed to succeed in competition at the highest level. The UKSI

Education and Training Programme Co-ordinator *Ref:13/00
Salary circa £30,000
Enhancing the personal and professional development of elite athletes,
coaches and their support teams is an essential ingredient of sporting
success. Your responsibilities will include designing curriculum-based
educational training packages and evaluating their success. You will also
contribute to the development of on-line training. You will be experienced
in the design, evaluation and implementation of curriculum development and
be an excellent trainer yourself. Experience of developing resources for a
wide range of delivery modes is required. A familiarity with the issues
facing elite athletes and coaches would also be beneficial.
Network Centre Development

Salary circa £35,000
Athletes need to be guaranteed excellent service delivery wherever they
train, if the UKSI is to succeed. You will be responsible for making this
happen through the creation of programmes which enhance service delivery at
UKSI Network Centres. You will achieve this by developing excellent
working relationships with, and co-ordinating personal and professional
development training for Network Centre staff. You will also be experienced
in developing performance criteria, monitoring systems and staff training.
A degree that shows you are a good researcher is desirable, as is three
years experience in a related field. A real understanding of high
performance sport and the delivery of athlete services will also be
required.
Athlete Liaison

Salary circa £35,000
You will work closely with the UK's best sportsmen and women to ensure that
they are receiving the best services wherever they are training. Your key
responsibilities will be managing an athlete medical scheme and solving
athlete issues that cannot be dealt with locally. To do this job you must
have an in-depth understanding of the problems facing high performance
athletes and be an experienced negotiator. Experience as an international
athlete, coach or sports administrator would be beneficial.
Statistical Analyst

Salary circa £30,000
We want the UKSI to become the main source of information on performance
statistics and sports results. You will be responsible for making that
happen by identifying, collecting and analysing the data that the UKSI and
elite sport need to make the right decisions. You will have proven
experience in analysing statistics and presenting statistical results.
Experience of working in a similar role is required, as is a degree in
statistics or a closely related subject. You will need to be an excellent
communicator and have a passion for sport.

You will be a communications professional with experience in a wide variety
of areas including PR, marketing and information management. You will be an
expert at utilising a variety of communication vehicles, including the web,
in order to deliver information to athletes wherever they are in the world.
An understanding of the information needs of elite athletes and coaches
would be a real advantage. You will also have the task of creating a
positive public image for the UKSI and ensuring that the investment in both
the UKSI and elite sport is recognised.

We will be creating a virtual Sports Institute that can deliver support to
athletes and coaches wherever they are in the world. You will be
responsible for developing and maintaining the website as we strive to
become the main information resource for elite sport in the UK. You will
have proven project management skills in the area of web development and be
an experienced web-editor. You will need to be an excellent communicator
and have a passion for the web and sport. Design and/or programming skills
would be a real advantage.
IT training Programme Co-ordinator

In order for elite athletes and coaches to survive the demands of a mobile,
global lifestyle, they need to be able to maximise information technology.
You will be responsible for improving the IT skills of our best athletes
and coaches by designing and delivering specialist training courses. You
will also be responsible for developing IT training resources which can be
used via the web and other delivery modes. You will be an experienced IT
trainer, familiar with using remote as well as more conventional means of
delivery. You will also have proven experience of software development. A
familiarity with the issues facing elite athletes and coaches would also be
beneficial.

The effective management and storage of information will be an important
factor in the success of the UKSI. It will be your responsibility to create
the UKSI information management system. You will have extensive experience
of database development using packages such as Access, ORACLE and SQL and
at least three years experience of creating and supporting information
management systems. You will need to be an excellent communicator and have
a passion for sport.
Network Communications Co-ordinator

Salary circa £32,000
The ability to transfer information will be an important factor in the
success of the UKSI. You will make this happen by providing advice on the
application of the latest IT and telecommunications technology with the aim
of creating a UK-wide communications network. You will be working closely
with a wide variety of sporting organisations to ensure they are capable of
maximising their involvement in this network. You will have at least three
years experience of advising on and implementing IT hardware and software
specifications. You will be experienced in ascertaining user requirements
and translating them into appropriate system recommendations and advice.
You will need to be an excellent communicator and have a passion for sport.
Coach Development Co-ordinator

Coaches need to be equipped to meet the challenge of preparing their
athletes to compete against the best in the world. A coach's professional
and personal development is paramount in achieving this. Your role will be
to work closely with individual coaches and performance directors to
develop a career, education and personal development programme. Ideally
you will have competed internationally as an athlete, coach or performance
director and have a real understanding of high performance sport. It will
also be essential for you to have experience in programme development and
needs-based assessment analysis.
