I am looking for a video-camera based motion capture system for motion
analysis ( or gait analysis). It was a post discussion for this similar
issue. I need an expert advise using either SIMI or APAS or others'
software. Both softwares are capable to reconstruct 3D markers and to
perform motion analysis by using video cameras ( DV, D8 or V8) and video
capture card. Can two systems synchronize with Motion Lab MA300-10 EMG and
novel emed-sf pressure mat?

SIMI¢XMotion is able to import original Novel data files and to display the
usual images synchronized to your video images and kinematic data.
It can also collect analog data directly with a DataTranslation family A/D
converter.
An external trigger can be set to synchronize other external devices with
the A/D data acquisition.
A special import for your 'Motion Lab MA300-10 EMG' native files does not
exist at the moment, but you can always import ASCII-files. If needed we
will be pleased to write a custom import filter for your data.

The APAS system was designed specially for this purpose. For $5000 you can
get the whole system and work on any digital camera. If you are going to use
the JVC 9800 you can use it up to 240 frames per second.
In addition, the APAS include multiple workstations for no additional cost
so you can have 10 APAS systems LAN together to the same video source.

Further to reading your enquiry on Biomech-l I thought you may be interested
in receiving information regarding the CODA real time motion analysis
system. The system can easily synchronize with Motion Lab MA300-10 EMG and
novel emed-sf pressure mat, as well as other external equipment.
The CODA mpx30, operates in real-time without the use of video technology,
thus making it easier and quicker to use, with greater accuracy. The system
has, for a long time, been firmly established in the biomechanical field.
Applications include analysis of gait, posture, body segments, upper limbs
and also rehabilitation.
Each CODA contains three infra-red sensors, which are housed in a single
light weight scanner unit (meaning the system is highly portable). The
sensors and associated DSP processors located in a host PC, use advanced
cross-correlation techniques to locate the positions of re-active LED
markers.
CODA¡¦s re-active LED markers have intrinsic identity meaning the hardware
and software automatically identify the position of markers, even when they
reappear after occlusion. This eliminates the need for the user to spend
time manually identifying trajectories.
CODA¡¦s markers are small, flat and extremely robust. The markers¡¦ intrinsic
identity means there is no restriction on how close they can be placed,
allowing for highly detailed capture and analysis.
CODA can operate at 100Hz with 56 markers, the frame rate increases as the
number of markers decreases, so that the system can operate at up to 800Hz
with 6 markers.
A single CODA unit is sufficient to generate full 3-D data for analysis of
one side of the body. However, for bilateral analysis or for twisting
movements, a dual system is required.
CODA¡¦s Windows based software is easy to use and extremely versatile. The
segmental gait analysis software is able to calculate internal joint
centres. Files can be produced in variety of formats including binary, text
and C3D. Full reports can be generated within minutes of the action taking
place, with the option of exporting the data to other applications such as
Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
